My name is Sophia Bednarik and I am in the business of relationships –with a camera always in my hands. I got my start with a 35mm pentax in 2007 and never felt more challenged. As a technically trained artist, I could always draw and paint from the reality of my eye but never felt more hurdled by this technology. I learned to conquer it. To grow around it and force it to work beneath the feat of what I would later embrace as my number one medium. My life was changed. Outside of my hard earned, fine art degree at the Maryland Institute College of Art, I have previously worked at the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Under Armor (to name a few) –where my skills were honed into the industry of commercial content creation. I got my portrait start with one of the more rudimentary foundations – Lifetouch School Studios – where I learned the true craft of studio lighting and fundamental posing under the ever-great, Jerry Brown –if you don’t know him, you should. He is an un-sung lighting god. These days, and for the past six years, I have personally manned the photography department at Maryland Photography Inc., where I delegate and then lead our team’s commercial architectural and marketing photo operations. Anyways, all that aside, I’m assuming that you’ve come here to learn more about me, my business and what makes me tick. Here’s the inside scoop, A.K.A the most important thing you could know: I do not disappoint. It goes against every fiber of my being. It doesn’t matter who you are and where you are going. There is art in what develops – regardless of limitations. Let me help you think, move and make, all of the parts of life that you want to remember.
